How to perform a full account backup
InclusiveHost always suggests that you keep recent and up to date local backups of your website. The easiest way to do this is through cPanel's built in free backup functionality. This backup will backup your entire website, this means all files, email accounts, email content, databases, and DNS settings will be backed up in full.
PLEASE NOTE: If you have a large hosting account, please only generate full backups of your account at off-peak hours as they can be resource intensive. Full backup commands issued during normal business hours may be subject to suspension.
To start a cPanel backup of your website:
1 Login to cPanel
2 From within cPanel, navigate to the "Files" category, and click the "Backups" Icon.
3 On the next screen, click on the "Download or Generate a Full Website Backup":
4 If you have any previously generated account backups, you can see them under the "Backups Available for Download" area.
Enter your email address if you wish to receive a notification when your backup completes. If your account is large or has a lot of small files, this backup process may take some time to complete.
Click the "Generate Backup" icon:
You can then revisit this same backup page to see your backup file status of "In Progress" or completed, with a download link provided.
If the backup is large, you may download this through FTP by navigating to your home directory, that is /home/username/, so your backup file would be located at something like: /home/cpanelusername/backup-time-username.tar.gz
